Discover What's On For the Kids Over the Summer Holidays: Activities & Events in Leeds, Yorkshire

As a working mum, I know how challenging it can be to keep the kids entertained over the summer holidays while balancing work and everyday responsibilities. Luckily, Leeds is bursting with fantastic events and activities to keep your little ones busy, and many of them are free or low-cost. Here's a quick guide to what's on in and around Leeds this summer!

 

Token Treasure Hunt

From 22nd July to 30th August, Leeds City Museum invites you to join the Token Treasure Hunt. A fantastic adventure that will keep the kids engaged and exploring.


Fabulous Fashion Workshops

31st July, Leeds Discovery Centre is hosting a Fabulous Fashion Workshop from 10 am-12 pm, perfect for budding designers.

 

Urban Nature Trail

On 1st August, explore the beautiful grounds of Kirkstall Abbey with the Urban Nature Trail. It's a wonderful way to connect with nature and learn about local wildlife.

 

Special Summer Events

 

Monopoly Leeds Takeover

From 27th July to 1st September, experience the Monopoly Leeds Takeover. This immersive event will bring the classic board game to life across the city centre, providing a unique and fun-filled family adventure. Check out the Monopoly Leeds website for city centre parking discount codes too!

 

Breeze in the Park

Look out for the Breeze in the Park events happening near you. For just 50p per child, these events offer a range of activities and are a great way to spend a summer day.

 

August Fun

 

Pot a Plant

On 1st August, visit Temple Newsam from 1-3 pm for a delightful Pot a Plant activity. A fantastic way for children to get their hands dirty and learn about gardening.

 

Sensory Storytime

For a more relaxed activity, Abbey House Museum hosts Sensory Storytime on 2nd August from 10:30-11:30 am, perfect for younger children.

 

National Play Day

Celebrate National Play Day on 7th August in City Square from 1-3 pm. It’s a day dedicated to play, creativity, and lots of fun.

 

Augmented Reality Workshop

On 8th August, head to Leeds City Museum for an Augmented Reality Workshop from 10-11:30 am. This tech-savvy event is sure to captivate older kids.
